GodAI is a free adventure video game that lets you craft worlds and stories at your own leisure. Developed by AWK, this is a text-based AI storyteller that offers interactive fiction gameplay so you don’t have to make these stories from scratch.

Similar to AI Dungeon and AI Dungeon 2, GodAI brings players into an AI-driven literary universe where anything can happen and you can interact with nearly everything by simply typing into it. It can be tricky to set up, however, and developer support has been halted for it so you’ll have to rely on its player community instead.

Anything is possible

Automated storytelling or AI story generation is a process involving the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create written stories. It typically involves having an AI learn through hundreds and even thousands of literary pieces in order to finally generate text that actually flows like narratives written by people. This process isn’t perfect by any means since some parts will sound forced.

However, some of the programs for these allow you to directly interact with the AI and supply it with the next scene. This is what GodAI is: a text-based adventure game with an AI companion that fills in the world as you explore via typing. You can type in your actions and choices in order to affect the virtual world. There are infinite possibilities on your fate as you play through.

From objects and characters to ideas and concepts, you can do whatever you want with them and the AI will follow with its procedurally generated text. This technically makes the game open-world and story-rich. However, as exciting as this prospect is, it can be daunting to set up the game itself. Not for low-end PCs

All in all, GodAI is a great text-based game to try out if you want to try something other than the mainstream AI storyteller games. It offers nearly unlimited possibilities on what you can do by just typing in your thoughts and actions. However, this is a game that isn’t for all PC systems, as it’s resource-intensive and difficult to install.
